MEET OUR STAFF

 

Douglas C. Daly, MD, FACOG: Dr. Daly is Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology (1984) and OB/GYN (1983). He was an Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at the University of Connecticut Medical School from 1982 - 1984 and an Associate Professor of OB/GYN and Radiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School from 1984 - 1988.  While at the University of Massachusetts he was also the OB/GYN Residency Program Director and a member of the Third Year Medical Student Curriculum Committee.
In 1989 Dr. Daly worked with the Philadelphia Fertility Institute before moving to Grand Rapids in 1990. He is the author of over 60 articles and research presentations on Infertility.

He has been awarded four Best Teacher Awards from the residents at three different institutions: The University of Connecticut in 1982, The University of Massachusetts in 1985 and 1987 and Blodgett Spectrum Health in 1999. In 1982 and 1983 he won the Boston Obstetrical Society Prize Paper competition.

 

 

David  Mayo, B.S., MT-ASCP: David received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Grand Valley State University in 1972.  He is certified as a medical technologist and has served previously as chemistry laboratory supervisor at Hackley Hospital and assistant hematology laboratory supervisor at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center.  David has been with our program since 1982 and is presently the embryology laboratory supervisor.  He has extensive experience in all aspects of assisted reproductive technology (ART) and has been instrumental in implementing new techniques for the program.  His experience in intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) has consistently yielded excellent fertilization and pregnancy rates.  David has co-authored several research presentations with Dr. Daly.


 

 

 

 

Bethany Sprague, B.S.: Bethany received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Alma College in 2002. She has worked as a lab assistant at Grand Rapids Fertility since 2001 and began working in our IVF Lab as an embryologist in 2004


 

 

 


Kerri Diemer, B.S.
:
Kerri received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Western Michigan University in 2005. She has been with Grand Rapids Fertility and IVF since 2006; her primary responsibility has been in the Andrology lab. She has expanded her knowledge base to include Embryology since 2007.


 

 

Our Nurses
 

 

 

Cherrie Daly, R.N.C.: Cherrie graduated from Hackley Hospital School of Nursing with a diploma degree in 1977.  She has worked in obstetrics and gynecology since 1987.  She obtained her certification in inpatient obstetrics and neonatal care in 1990.  Cherrie has been with our program since 1994 as a nursing coordinator.  In addition to her nursing responsibilities, she serves as the IVF coordinator and office manager.


 

 

 

 

Carla Ellens, B.S.N., R.N.: Carla received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Grand Valley State University's Kirkhof School of Nursing in 1999.  After graduating, she worked in pediatrics before joining our staff in 2000.


 

 

 

 

Kristy Nelson, RN.: Kristy graduated from GRCC with an Associates Degree in Nursing. Before joining our staff in 2005, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse. She serves as our patient educator, IVF and donor oocyte coordinator. Kristy assists in all surgical procedures performed in our office.


Our nurses are dedicated to serving our patients throughout
their infertility treatment.  
They are responsible for patient education as well as coordinating day-to-day patient care with Dr. Daly.

Brandi Huizenga: Brandi received her medical assistant certificate from Ross Medical Education Center in 2004. She has worked as one of our administrative assistants since April 2006. On her off days she enjoys spending time with her two young children, which helps her understand our patient's desire to have children of their own.


 

 

 


Sara DeBoer: Sara is our billing coordinator. She is primarily responsible for insurance billing and payment entry. She has had previous medical practice experience prior to joining us in 2007. Sara delivered her first child in December of 2009 with the assistance of invitro fertilization.
